Frequently Asked Questions

1.    What do I need if I want to register?
All you need is your Tax File Number and an email address.

2.    Am I required to state my profession?
No - how you earn your money or even how many different income streams you have is of no concern to us.

3.    Can I register under a business name or do I need to use my own name?
You need to register as an individual, so your own name is required.

4.    Why do I need a Tax File Number?
To register with us it is a requirement, even if you do not require us to handle your Tax Payments for you.

5.    Do I need an ABN (Australian Business Number)?
No, we attribute your income and tax directly to your individual name not your business name.

6.    Why should I declare my income?
Once you record your income with us we then have the ability to assist you with a whole host of backup services.

7.    How often and how much do I need to declare?
That is up to you. If you want to declare every day for a week, twice a week, once a fortnight pretty much any other period, we can assist you.  Your personal circumstances will determine how often and how much.

8.    What is it going to cost me?
That depends on how much you declare. Our calculators automatically work that out for you, all nominal charges are tax deductable.

9.    Does it cost me if I don’t use the mymate service?
No, you only pay fees when you actually declare so if you are having a break for a couple of weeks you don't pay.

10.    I am not a business, I am a sole trader and earn under $75,000.00 p.a. can I use MyMate?
Yes, you can.

11.    If I earn over $75,000.00 p.a. am I still able to use MyMate.
Yes, you are.

12.    How do I work out my tax?
You don’t need too, our tax calculators do that all for you.

13.    How do I make a payment?
You will have the opportunity to print your invoice. The payment options are listed on the bottom of the invoice.

14.    How do I print a report?
Simply log in to the member’s page and click on Reports, then tick what type of report you need, select the date range you want by clicking on the calendar boxes, click submit and you're done! If you want to print a report, just click "print".

15.    How do I change my details?
Login to your member’s page and click on edit my details - this will bring up your personal information.  From here you can change your contact phone numbers, e-mail address, password and postal address.  Tick the box to confirm your details then click "submit" to save changes.

16. I can’t login
Your password is case sensitive - check you do not have your caps lock on.

17. I’ve lost my username and password
Go to your login page and click on "forgotten your password".  Enter either your username or email address, then click continue. Your password will be sent to your nominated email address.

18. I forgot to print my invoice
Copies of all transactions in MyMate will go to your email account, where you can print them.
