Even Eagles Need a Push

As I hungrily soaked up the vast array of titles, David McNally’s book attracted my attention, a tiny gem amongst thousands that had the power to be noticed.
It was a fascinating title from two perspectives, as a Coach I immediately loved its assumption, feel like a winner and get those people and disciplines in place that trigger your motivation. Accountability comes in many forms and I’m big on it, set yourself up to get motivated and don’t leave it to chance. It is much easier to talk yourself out of action than to take it.
From the business perspective this was attraction marketing at its best. It immediately had me thinking in the positive (who doesn’t want to think of themselves as powerful and capable of soaring to great heights) and I wanted more, so I bought the book. It sold itself, no need for a promotion campaign.
It got me thinking about the value of accountability and its impact on attraction, according to my trusty Collins: accountable, responsible to someone or for some action.
What makes us happy and therefore shine? It is what we do or don’t do that cause us happiness or grief. Even having something is about doing something! Your mindset is everything – are you operating with a mindset that creates what you want. If you HAVE what you WANT then you probably won’t be reading this, if not then you just may need some mindset mastery skills.
A mindset aligns itself to the dream, not the other way round. An outcome is an end result of a belief! Let me repeat that, an outcome is an end result of a belief.
Give a thought to your beliefs this week, listen carefully for yours and too others. I guarantee you will be amazed at what you will hear! In fact I would love to hear what you had to notice, so leave a comment. If you want to fly like an eagle then you need to think like an eagle and make sure someone or something is around to remind you, you are an eagle no matter how old you are.
Jimmy’s mother called out to him at seven in the morning, “Jimmy its time to get up for school!”
There was no answer. Exasperated, she went into his room and shook him saying “Jimmy it is time to get ready for school”
He answered, “Mum, I’m not going to school. There are fifteen hundred kids at school and every one of them hates me and all the teachers hate me too. I saw three of them talking the other day and one of them was pointing his finger at me. I know they all hate me so I am not going.”
“Get up and get to school Jimmy,” his Mother demanded.
“But Mum, why are you making me do this,” he protested.
“Jimmy for two good reasons” she fired back. “First you’re forty two years old and second, you’re the principle”

Anne, it is so true that no matter what age or situation we are in, we often need a little push to ‘fly’ – I look forward to reading future posts from you – thanks for the inspiration!
